Greater Chicago Soap Box Derby 2024 September Rally Race

September 7 & 8, 2024

Divisions: Stock, Super Stock, Masters
Race Fee: $30 per race if racing all 4 races, or $120 for the weekend, otherwise $35 per race. Make check payable to GCSBD. No cash please. New first time racers from the Chicago Local racing area cost is $10 per race for their 1st 12 months of racing.

New to soap box derby racing? Let us know you are coming and your child can use 1 of our cars to race for the day or the weekend. There is no charge to use the car, new 1st time Chicago racer fee is $10 for each race, we run 2 races each day. Not ready to start racing right away, stop by and take a test run to see what soap box derby racing is like.

Groupon coupons are only for new first time Chicago Local racers that do not have a rally ID assigned to their name.

Request for refunds must be submitted before the end of the race weekend or the 1st Tuesday of the following month. Request for refunds can be sent via email.

Racers: Race day schedule

7:30am Scales and Registration open
8am All cars need to be in line for weigh in
8:15am Registration closes and heat pairings will be drawn at the registration table. 
Please be present at that time if you want to see the pairings being drawn.
8:30am Drivers meeting and racing to begin

Spectators:
Racing starts around 9am. We are generally are fiished racing around 3pm. No charge for spectators.
You’re welcome to bring a lawn chair as there is no seating. There will be a porta potty on site and often we have a concession stand during lunchtime. When you enter the intersection of Diehl and Frontenac Road you will see the road closed signs. Just ease past the barricades and let someone know you are there to watch the race and they will direct you where to park.
If you have kids that are at least seven years old they are welcome to take a test run down the track in one of our cars. Just let someone know you’re interested in doing that.
